The Friends of Vail Public Library works to assist the library director in promoting and improving library services, materials, and facilities and in seeking donations, gifts, and bequests.

Who We Are and What We Do

The Friends of Vail Public Library helps host cultural speakers and programs at the library, works to enrich and enhance existing library services, assists with the Book Nook and Annual Book Sale, advocates for the library through public awareness, and supports many digital initiatives.

    We accept Visa and MasterCard donations.
  • You can also donate your time to the library.  If you are interested in giving of yourself, fill out our brief volunteer interest form.  A staff member will get in touch with you to discuss volunteer options.

Book Donations

Donations are limited to no more than one box, except by prior arrangement.

Thank you for donating your books to the Vail Public Library. Donated items must be in very good condition and must be delivered to the Library during regular business hours.

Items we do not accept:

  • Items in poor physical condition. For example water damage, broken spine, mold, mildew, missing or yellowed pages, highlighted text, notes, etc.
  • Items previously purchased from the Vail Public Library
  • Time-Life or similar series
  • Encyclopedias, textbooks, study guides, workbooks, and computer instruction books
  • Reader’s Digest condensed books
  • Magazines (including National Geographic)
  • VHS, music CDs, cassette tapes, DVDs, and audiobooks (no media)
  • Games, vinyl music records
  • Maps
  • Comics

Donations are tax-deductible. Receipts acknowledging your donation are available at the Service Desk. We are not able to assign a dollar amount or value to your donation. Due to the large volume of donations we receive, we regret that we are unable to return donated items that the library cannot use.
