StoryWalk® in Bighorn Park in East Vail

It’s up!  Please visit!!

Vail Public Library is debuting our StoryWalk® in Bighorn Park in East Vail with the classic winter book “The Mitten” written and illustrated by Jan Brett.  With a translation into Spanish by Teresa Mlawer.

StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children — and adults! — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to frames and mounted on wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you’re directed to the next page in the story.

StoryWalk®  Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier Vermont, and developed in collaboration with the   Kellogg Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Furguson.

We are grateful to our grant sponsors, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Colorado State Library who funded the project through the LSTA CARES Act grant, as well as our local sponsors, Town of Vail and Friends of the Library.  We are also grateful for our local  partners Eagle Valley Behavioral Health, Eagle Valley Land Trust and The Literacy Project of Eagle County.
