Story Time

In response to the COVID-19 virus and public health concerns,

Vail Public Library is suspending all gatherings
(meetings, classes, programs, story times)

Thank you for your understanding.

Safe In Person Story Time

Story Time is Back! We are excited to invite families back to our early literacy story time. Starting July 14  and running through Sept if the weather is nice, we will host Tuesday Story Time in our back yard at 11am. Stories, songs and movement activities will entertain our youngest patrons – appropriate for ages 6 and under. We’ll be meeting on the lawn behind the library.
Attendance at Back Yard Story Time does require some participant responsibility:

  • Please don’t come if you and your family are not COVID-19 symptom free
  • Please observe 6 feet of distancing between your family and other patrons not in your household
  • Please wear a mask while you are at the library
  • We encourage you to bring your own seating. Camp chairs, blankets from home and carpet squares are welcome.

This is a wonderful new resource for parents of young children.  Please explore their website for things you can be doing right now and every day to ensure your child’s development and success.

Due to the library’s closure in response to COVID-19 and public health concerns, we will be hosting  Virtual Story Time sessions through Facebook Live at 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday (Saturday is bilingual!). Join library staff members Cricket and Sandy for songs, stories and movement. All you have to do is login to Facebook and join the fun!

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless.

One of the most important gifts you can provide your child is the gift of literacy. That is why we invite you to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative.

Help your child gain the confidence necessary to become a strong reader when you read to them. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, toddler and/or preschooler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your precious one starts kindergarten.

Does it sound hard? Not really if you think about it. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years!

This fun and free program has no end date except your child’s going to school—so don’t feel rushed— just enjoy the experience!

Send Cricket an email to sign up

We’ll send you a reading log to keep track of your books and aware small prizes along the way!
