Jacki Benson March 1st – 31st

Local Artist Jacqui Allen-Benson paints primarily in oil getting her inspiration from her faith and the beautiful Colorado Landscape.After serving in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam War she attended college where she studied Horticultural Science with a particular emphasis on Soil Science and Landscape Design.  After moving to Colorado in 1978 she was drawn to Faith based social work.  After spending many years in that profession she joined her husband Hugo Benson in their printing business OG Printer in Gypsum where she has worked for the past 19 years. She has been occasionally using her professional design; gardening and self taught painting skills for stress relief. Although still working part time at the print shop doing the direct mailing piece because she is the only certified “Mail quality control specialist”. She has begun what she jokes is her 9^th life. Currently she has sold much to her surprise 12 pieces of her art work. “People always buy the pieces I like best so than I have to paint another one” All of Jacqui’s paintings have faces for which it is fun to find in the landscapes.  Her subject matter consists mostly of local spots that she re-landscapes in her paintings to suit herself trying to show you all the faces sharing this world with you.
