July 13, 2021(2 events) National Repertory Orchestra – Music for Everyone Youth and Music Education The National Repertory Orchestra firmly believes music is for everyone and takes great pride in our ability to provide the community with free musical events. The benefits of children experiencing classical music reflect in all parts of life–mentally, emotionally and socially. Through innovative ensembles and full orchestral performances that are both educational and inspiring, musicians introduce children of all ages to orchestral music with various age-appropriate activities All programs will be held in our backyard or patio. RSVP is required for most events. |
July 14, 2021(1 event) Virtual Books 'n Bites - “The Dutch house” by Ann Patchett – Join us! for this month's Virtual Book Club via Zoom which will discuss the book “Sweet tooth” by Ian McEwan Email Lori Barnes at LBarnes@vailgov.com to receive an invitation to the Zoom meeting. At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. Cyril’s son Danny and his older sister Maeve are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother. The two wealthy siblings are thrown back into the poverty their parents had escaped from and find that all they have to count on is one another. |

Bring a project or start one here, all abilities and skill levels are welcome at Knit Night! Grab one of the library’s many knitting or crochet books for inspiration, and enjoy an evening with fellow crafters. RSVP to Cricket at CPylman@vailgov.com by 3 p.m. is required. Our teacher, Amy Cohen, is a volunteer and we want to respect her time and schedule. |

July 21, 2021(1 event) Evening of Engagement with Bettman & Halpin – Join us back this summer at our backyard for one of our outdoor concerts offered on Wednesday afternoons at 5:30 p.m. with a duration of 1 hour. Bettman & HalpinNationally touring and award-winning duo Bettman & Halpin perform original, toe tapping, and heartfelt Americana and folk music. Fiddle player and vocalist Stephanie Bettman elicits comparisons to such legendary singers as Emmylou Harris and Joan Baez. Her partner Luke Halpin is renowned multi-instrumentalist who sings and plays guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo, drawing inspiration from the likes of Sam Bush, Mark O’Connor and Tony Rice. As a duo, Bettman & Halpin are quickly earning a reputation in folk and bluegrass circles for their irresistible lyrical and musical compositions, harmonies and roof-raising instrumentals. |

July 28, 2021(1 event) VERY YOUNG COMPOSERS – Very Young Composers, a program of Youth Power 365 in partnership with the New York Philharmonic and The Playground Ensemble, allows students of all backgrounds to create their own musical pieces from start to finish. With the help of teaching artists, students learn to compose for different instruments, write a short story, and set the story to music in a step-by-step process. The program will culminate in a public performance by professional musicians of all the student compositions. All programs will be held in our backyard or patio. RSVP is required for most events. |
