The Vail Valley Art Guild was begun in 2014 in order to fill a perceived need in the Vail Valley for an organization created by and for visual artists. Since its inception, the Vail Valley Art Guild has grown from 10 members to over 150 members, including over 70 photographers, many of whom are professionals. We offer the Vail Valley an opportunity to view the creativity of local oil, watercolor and acrylic painters, charcoal, pen and ink, and pastel artists, photographers, ceramicists, sculptors, jewelers, mixed media and paper artists.

We meet in the area between the water fountain near Bistro 14 and Gondoly's Pizza at the top of Eagle's Nest Gondola, to talk books and then ski (we intend to ski blue, groomed slopes). Attendees must have their own ski pass, the library will not be providing lift tickets or refreshments. Our Skiing Book Club is a fun, social outing, but at the same time you are getting the mental and physical activity essential to a healthy brain.

–
March 13, 2019Join us! as we continue with programming of this years One Book One Valley.
Like every year, in the month of March we discuss the selected book.
For this 2019 it will be "The Last of the Menu Girls" by Denise ChavezRocío Esquibel is a girl growing up in a Southern New Mexico town with her mother and sister. She defines her neighborhood by its trees—the willow, the apricot and the one they call the marking-off tree. Rocio knows she was born in the closet where she and her sister now take turns looking at the picture of Jesus whose eyes light up in the dark. But at night she enters a magical realm, and in her imaginary Blue Room, she can fly. At first she is a mesmerized observer of the lives of older girls and their boyfriends, but as she finds a job at the local hospital, and discovers a passion for drama and stories, Rocio begins to make her own choices in love and work.
Alive with the taste of tamales and the lyrical tang of the Esquibels’ talk, The Last of the Menu Girls becomes a rich celebration of Chicano culture, and a universal story of finding one’s way in the world.
