January 17, 2019(2 events) Local Artist, Jessica Wright, on display. N/A January 17th – 31st, 2019Through the technique of gestural abstraction, Jessica Wright invites us into a world of enchantment: a world of forested landscapes that are sometimes burning and bright and other times shrouded in mist. Self-taught, Jess has been painting since the age 12. About four years ago she abandoned the brush—after more than 25 years of work—and hit upon a “throwing” technique that employs acrylics, chopsticks and, of late, her own hands. Her paintings come to life with color and texture—and an immediacy that produces an almost child-like state of wonder and awe in the viewer. |

January 24, 2019(2 events) Family Loteria Night – ¡Corre y se va! Jugando lotería! Lotería is a traditional Latin-American game of chance, similar to bingo, but using images on a deck of cards instead of plain numbers on ping pong balls. Every image has a name and an assigned number, but the number is usually ignored. Each player has at least one tabla, a board with a randomly created 4 x 4 grid of pictures with their corresponding name and number. Come with your family, meet new people, enjoy beverages, and maybe even learn some Spanish. |

February 1, 2019(1 event) Local Artist, Greg Clifton, on display. N/A Greg Clifton February 1st-14th, 2019Underwater photography for Greg Clifton represents a convergence of two longstanding passions – diving and taking pictures. Greg is excited, and quite honored, to have the chance to showcase some of his favorite images stemming from dive trips over the past four years in Central America. The exhibit (his first!) will consist of 21 images taken from the waters of southern Belize, Bonaire, Roatan, Utila, and Cayman. Consisting largely of corals, tropical fish and some larger seafaring species (including the world’s largest fish – the whale shark), the images are shared to underscore the incredible beauty and rich diversity of coral ecosystems, while raising awareness of their fragile nature and declining status in recent years. |
