April 1, 2021(1 event) “Ute Culturally Modified Trees” A Virtual Presentation with Lynn Albers, Vail Public Library’s Local History and Ethnobotany Specialist – Learn about trees that are living artifacts created by the Colorado Utes. A culturally modified tree (CMT) may be described as a tree that has been altered by an indigenous people, such as the Utes, for a specific purpose. Cultural modification of trees includes peeling the outer bark to obtain the precious inner bark for food, medicine, ceremony and practical daily life uses. Distinctively peeled Colorado ponderosa pines are rare and impermanent reminders of the Ute way of life. This event will take place via Zoom Meeting. No registration required. Meting ID: |

While we cannot have in-person celebrations, it is still a good time to highlight the critical role library workers play in keeping our libraries running. Give a shout out to a library worker you know. Discovery all the resources your library offers. Support your library and its staff. When budget time comes for your city or state, do your part to support your library. |
