April 3, 2022(1 event) National Library Week 2022 N/A National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening our communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Connect with Your Library”, which promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources. Libraries also offer opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and classes, in addition to books. Most importantly, libraries also connect communities to each other. This week, Vail Public Library (VPL) encourages all community members to visit their library in person or online to explore and access services and programs. VPL offers a wide array of programs and resources that are available in person or from the comfort of homes, such as Storytime’s, music concerts, digital items and databases, virtual book discussions, and virtual Yoga. |

Books 'n Bites - "The Color of Air" by Gail Tsukiyama – Join us each month for a fun and lively virtual book club experience! We meet on the second Wednesday of the month via Zoom. Daniel Abe, a young doctor in Chicago, is finally coming back to Hawai'i. He has his own reason for returning to his childhood home, but it is not to revisit the past, unlike his Uncle Koji. Koji lives with the memories of Daniel’s mother, Mariko, the love of his life, and the scars of a life hard-lived. He can’t wait to see Daniel, who he’s always thought of as a son, but he knows the time has come to tell him the truth about his mother, and his father. But Daniel’s arrival coincides with the awakening of the Mauna Loa volcano, and its dangerous path toward their village stirs both new and long ago passions in their community. |
