February 1, 2020(1 event) LED Swap this month @ your library N/A In collaboration with the Climate Action Collaborative, Vail Public Library invites all Eagle County residents to save money and cut climate pollution by exchanging two inefficient old-tech lightbulbs for two high-efficiency LEDs during the month of February, 2020. Residents are encouraged to bring in two incandescent or compact-florescent bulbs and exchange them for two LED bulbs free of charge any time during library hours. Switching to LED lighting is one of the easiest and lowest-cost ways to reduce air pollution.

This program idea is designed to bring movement and energy to our preschool story hour. Chinese New Year Celebration @ Donovan Pavillion – Enjoy the performances from VMS Chinese students and participate in culturally authentic activities such as dumpling making, paper cutting, calligraphy and traditional painting, Peking Opera mask making, lantern riddle guessing, and fun Chinese games! Frida Kahlo Portraits (OBOV Event) with Alpine Arts – Frida Kahlo used material culture to construct her identity — and material culture made her an icon in return. Join Alpine Arts & Vail Public Library in making your very own Self Portraits like Frida did. Each student would bring in a photo (or we can help you print one) to use in the frame and put images around that they identify with. This event is open to Teens & Adults, make sure to RSVP to Sandy at srivera@vailgov.com or to 970-479-2331 as we have limited space.

Please join other Eagle Valley Seniors from around the county at Avon's Eagle River Presbyterian Church on Feb. 1 at 1:30pm, in celebrating the shortest month of the year with love stories, love songs & Valentine’s Day history. Books 'n Bites (Book Club) – Once a month this group meets in Vail Public Library's Community Room to share conversation inspired by the book of the month. This is an informal librarian-led hour and a half long discussion. A book discussion group for those who love literature and lively discussion. Ming has been doing balloon sculptures for over 30 years and teaching balloon art for more than 20 years. This program idea is designed to bring movement and energy to our preschool story hour. Evenings of Engagement with Eagle Valley Chamber Music – Charles Broschinsky and Emily Zeigler have been performing chamber music in the Vail Valley for over 7 years. The Chamber Music Group tries to include a slightly eccentric mix of classical, baroque, romantic, and contemporary ensemble pieces in its repertoire, while tailoring its music to please anyone. Emily, a retired lawyer, began playing the flute at 10 years old and is currently teaching in YouthPower365’s music program in the Avon Elementary School, a program that provides instruments and instruction to elementary school students. Charles began playing the clarinet many years ago and has recently expanded his vision for expression through his music. He is also pastry chef at Juniper Restaurant. The Chamber Music Group has performed at libraries, art shows, lectures and events throughout the Eagle Valley. |
