October 1, 2019(3 events) Baby Story time – From their unique perspective, perched on the lap of a beloved adult, these very young minds absorb what is going on around them and may already be learning an appreciation for books and reading. Baby story time is filled with songs, movement exercises, rhythm and rhyme. This is very interactive and age appropriate for the 0—18 month old patrons. Preschool Story Time – Enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, children and caregivers join Cricket at Vail Public Library, as she leads listeners in rhymes, songs, stories and more. Each story time also features an age appropriate art activity. Active participation is encouraged from everybody as children enjoy these pre-reading activities designed to be the building blocks for strong readers and students. An local woodworker will guide you in constructing your own frame then attaching tree branches to it. You'll leave with a functioning coat rack! Grab one of the library’s many knitting or crochet books for inspiration, and enjoy an evening with fellow crafters. If you need extra help our teacher, Amy Cohen, is at Alpaca in Eagle where Knit Night is offered every Tuesday. Join the library Knit Night every 2nd and 4th Monday of the Month for conversation, encouragement, ideas, and company as you create a healthy lifestyle along with your warm and fuzzy fiber art!RSVP by 3pm is required. Sensational & Super Seniors @ your library – Discovery and appreciate fine craftsmanship and stringed instrument creation, with Eagle County woodworker, Dennis Laird. As a luthier (builder of stringed instruments), Laird designs and hand-crafts acoustic guitars, ukuleles, old-time banjos, mandolins and bouzoukis. Join us for an afternoon of Laird’s designs and fashioned tools he uses in his luthier pursuit.

October 17, 2019(4 events) Kids Create - Sewing Project – We have invited Marie Torry of Patterns of Joy Life Skills Enrichment ~ Sewing Outreach to come teach us to sew! Our sewing project is to sew and fill Welcome Totes for children who are attending Round up River Ranch Family Camp. Each child will sew one tote to give and one to keep for themselves. We will then fill the totes with a journal, fun stuff & toiletries to make the child’s visit more enjoyable. Patterns of Joy has the mission of Kids Serving Kids, we love the idea behind it! October 26, 2019(2 events) Scarecrow Building Workshop – Form a team of friends or family and come build a scarecrow to decorate the library.
The library will provide frames and art supplies. Vail Valley Cares Thrifty Store will provide clothes. Bring accessories to personalize your scarecrow. Small parts, glue guns and staple guns will be used. This creative day is appropriate for children 5 years old and older; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Teens may work independently with librarian permission.
