April 1, 2021Learn about trees that are living artifacts created by the Colorado Utes. A culturally modified tree (CMT) may be described as a tree that has been altered by an indigenous people, such as the Utes, for a specific purpose. Cultural modification of trees includes peeling the outer bark to obtain the precious inner bark for food, medicine, ceremony and practical daily life uses. Distinctively peeled Colorado ponderosa pines are rare and impermanent reminders of the Ute way of life.
This event will take place via Zoom Meeting. No registration required.
