November 29, 2018(2 events) Reading Buddies – Reading Buddies is a free Vail Public Library program that pairs trained teen volunteers with younger kids for a one-on-one reading experience. Little Buddies do not need to be struggling readers to benefit from this program. Reading Buddies offers a chance for friendship while providing another set of attentive ears for our young readers. Little buddies should be in grades Kindergarten, 1 and 2. Big Buddies should be in grades 7 - 12. Contact Cricket for an application to be either a Big Buddy or a Little Buddy! We are currently recruiting for our Fall Session. The next session begins Thu., Oct.11. It will continue weekly through Dec. 6. We meet from 4:15 to 5:15pm. Big Buddies need to interview and be trained by early Oct. If you are interested, please contact Cricket at cpylman@vailgov.com or 970-479-2179 to be ready for the next session. |

December 3, 2018(1 event) One Book One Valley Kickoff Event @ The Bookworm of Edwards – What if everyone in Eagle Valley read the same book at the same time? During the next few months, Vail Public Library, The Bookworm of Edwards, the staff of Colorado Mountain College & the local high school libraries are encouraging the community to do just that by participating in the Annual One Book One Valley community-wide reading initiative. The book selected for 2019 will be officially announced during the kick-off party at The Book Worm of Edwards. |

December 5, 2018(2 events) Evenings of Engagement with Natalie Spears – Natalie Spears is a folk music vocalist who also plays a variety of instruments including the bass, banjo, and piano. Raised on Jazz, Blues, and Folk music, her own music is a reflection of these diverse styles. Learning to play the piano at the age of five, Natalie's love of Old Time music would later flourish into a full-fledged passion and a rewarding career. This event is free and open to the public. |

December 12, 2018(2 events) Holiday Harp Music of Margot Krimmel – Join us! for an evening of holiday harp music with soloist, Margot Krimmel. An award-winning musician, Margot began her music career right here in Vail, playing the harp for the guests of the Sonnenalp Hotel. She now resides in the Boulder area and teaches this unique instrument to over 25 students. This session is free and open to the public. |

December 18, 2018(2 events) Traditional Piñata Workshop – As a part of the Vail Public Library's program in cultural diversity, we will be hosting a three day Traditional Piñata Workshop. The goal of this fun, engaging three day workshop is to give the public an opportunity to learn about one of many fascinating Mexican traditions. Participants will gather in teams of four members to create piñatas made from such materials as clay pots, newspapers, gloss and tissue paper. It will take all three days to complete a piñata, so your team has to be present all three days. Please, RSVP to Sandy Rivera at srivera@vailgov.com or to 970-479-2331. Space is limited. AWE Chamber Music Trio – The Vail Public Library once again welcomes musical guests, the AWE Chamber Trio. The principals have joined forces to further their love of various styles of music, presenting it to the Vail Valley in unique settings and venues. The AWE Chamber Trio seeks to include Classical, Baroque, Romantic, and Contemporary ensemble pieces in its repertoire, accommodating just about every type of music enthusiast. The trio will perform seasonal classics in the fireplace lounge, so pull up a chair, open a good book, and enjoy! This session is free and open to the public. |

The Dickens Carolers – Vail Public Library proudly welcomes the Dickens Carolers for a night of caroling in our Fireside Lounge. Wearing Victorian costumes (many of them made by hand by the singers themselves), the volunteer musical group performs around the Valley spreading “Holiday Cheer”. |

Allow yourself 30 minutes at this drop-in workshop to create your lantern. Arrive no later than 3:30 pm to make a lantern.
