October 22, 2019(3 events) Baby Story time – From their unique perspective, perched on the lap of a beloved adult, these very young minds absorb what is going on around them and may already be learning an appreciation for books and reading. Baby story time is filled with songs, movement exercises, rhythm and rhyme. This is very interactive and age appropriate for the 0—18 month old patrons. Preschool Story Time – Enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, children and caregivers join Cricket at Vail Public Library, as she leads listeners in rhymes, songs, stories and more. Each story time also features an age appropriate art activity. Active participation is encouraged from everybody as children enjoy these pre-reading activities designed to be the building blocks for strong readers and students. Balloon Sculptures with Ming – Learn to make balloon sculptures! Ming has been doing balloon sculptures for over 30 years and teaching balloon art for more than 20 years. Story Time Move 'n' Groove – A NEW Story Time that includes a picture book, yoga and movement activities for the 3-5 year old set. This program idea is designed to bring movement and energy to our preschool story hour. Evenings of Engagement with Brooks Williams – Brooks Williams hails from Statesboro, Georgia, the town made famous by country-blues legend Blind Willie McTell. Ranked in the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists, he’s a mean finger-picker and a stunning slide guitarist. Plus, “he has a beautiful voice,” says AmericanaUK, “that you just melt into.” Not one easy to pigeon-hole, Brooks' music is the love-child of country-blues and soulful Americana. |

October 26, 2019(2 events) Scarecrow Building Workshop – Form a team of friends or family and come build a scarecrow to decorate the library.
The library will provide frames and art supplies. Vail Valley Cares Thrifty Store will provide clothes. Bring accessories to personalize your scarecrow. Small parts, glue guns and staple guns will be used. This creative day is appropriate for children 5 years old and older; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Teens may work independently with librarian permission.
