Gentle Yoga

April 10, 2017 April 11, 2017

This may be the yoga class you’re looking for. Here we cultivate compassion for ourselves and others. Though it’s a gentle workout, the emphasis is on working in. This inward focus unites the mind, body & Spirit in an atmosphere of community and collaboration, not competition. Balance, strength and flexibility improve while experiencing deep relaxation. You’ll feel a lightness of being from this powerful and healing practice. Taught by Anne Anderson, Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Registered with Yoga Alliance, Professional Ski Instructor of America at Vail; Lionshead Adults, Reiki II Practitioner and Founder of Snowga, a yoga practice on the slopes created to calm the mind and transform the ski experience; less fear, more fun.

Community Meditation

April 11, 2017

Meditation is commonly described as the practice of focusing our mental attention to awaken us beyond habitual thinking, so to reveal the nature of reality -- what is happening here and now.  Although there are many approaches to deepening our awareness of presence, the art of practice lies in embracing the process with curiosity, kindness and a light touch.  Vail Public Library is pleased to offer community members the opportunity to share in their meditative journey from a community approach.

Please join others in the Community Room at Vail Public Library for weekly meditation gatherings on Tuesdays. Whether you are well along the path, just beginning to develop a practice or simply interested in exploring the path of meditation with others, we invite you to join community members in a weekly meditation gathering.   Meditation gatherings are informal, following no specific approach, practice or formalities.  Each session will open with a brief welcome and inspirational passage, followed by calming, breathing techniques and a 30-minute meditation session.  Sessions will close with brief comment or further inspirational thought from varied disciplines. Chairs are available or those preferring are welcome to bring a meditation cushion.

This month's selection is "One Step Too Far" by Tina Seskis.

The #1 international bestseller reminiscent of After I’m Gone, Sister, Before I Go to Sleep, and The Silent Wife—an intricately plotted, thoroughly addictive thriller that introduces a major new voice in suspense fiction—a mesmerizing and powerful novel that will keep you guessing to the very end.

No one has ever guessed Emily’s secret. Will you?

A happy marriage. A beautiful family. A lovely home. So what makes Emily Coleman get up one morning and walk right out of her life—to start again as someone new? Now, Emily has become Cat, working at a hip advertising agency in London and living on the edge with her inseparable new friend, Angel. Cat’s buried any trace of her old self so well, no one knows how to find her. But she can't bury the past—or her own memories. And soon, she’ll have to face the truth of what she's done—a shocking revelation that may push her one step too far. . . .
