By age thirty she became the first woman to climb the state’s 100 highest peaks. While regaining her footing could not save her failing marriage, the mountains were the one anchor in her life that held. Very Young Composers1:00 pm – 3:00 pm Very Young Composers, a program of Youth Power 365 in partnership with the New York Philharmonic and The Playground Ensemble, allows students of all backgrounds to create their own musical piece from start to finish, during a week-long workshop. With the help of teaching artists, students learn how to compose for different instruments. Then, they write their own story and set the story to music. The program will culminate in a public performance of all the student compositions. This open to the public family concert will feature music, stories and art, all by area youth. It is a true celebration of their creativity. The Very Young Composers program was brought to Vail in 2006 by its creator, Jon Deak of the New York Philharmonic.
