Gentle Yoga – Monday’s & Wednesday’s at 11:30am

This may be the yoga class you’re looking for. Here we cultivate compassion for ourselves and others. Though it’s a gentle workout, the emphasis is on working in. This inward focus unites the mind, body & Spirit in an atmosphere of community and collaboration, not competition. Balance, strength and flexibility improve while experiencing deep relaxation. You’ll feel a lightness of being from this powerful and healing practice. Taught by Anne Anderson, Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Registered with Yoga Alliance, Professional Ski Instructor of America at Vail; Lionshead Adults, Reiki II Practitioner and Founder of Snowga, a yoga practice on the slopes created to calm the mind and transform the ski experience; less fear, more fun.

Books 'n' Bites

June 13, 2018

June's Books 'n' Bites title is "Beneath a Scarlet Sky," by Mark T. Sullivan, who is the keynote speaker at this year's Literacy Project Author Luncheon (June 26, 11:30am - 2pm) at the Four Seasons in Vail. For tickets or information on this luncheon, please call the Literacy Project at 970-949-5026 ) "Beneath a Scarlet Sky" is a tale of history, love and suspense that is based on a true story.

Pino Lella, an Italian teenager wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis, but when his family home is destroyed by Allied bombs, he joins an underground group helping Jews escape over the Alps. It is then that he falls in love with Anna, a widow six years his senior. Pino's parents, attempting to protect him from combat, force him to enlist as a German soldier. As a German soldier, he becomes the personal driver for General Hans Leyers, a powerful commander in the Third Reich. This position, inside the German High Command, provides Pino with the opportunity to spy for the Allies, and his love for Anna and his dream of the life they will share once the war is over helps provide him with the strength to endure.

Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend whether you have read the book or not! For more information, please contact the library at 970-479-2187 or libinfo@vailgov.com.
