Evenings of Engagement with Rupert WatesEvenings of Engagement with Rupert Wates –
Rupert Wates Rupert Wates was born in London and studied at Oxford University. In the late 1990s, he signed a publishing deal with Eaton Music and worked for several years as their house songwriter. He moved to Paris in 2001, formed his own quartet and performed regularly in the city's clubs. He came to the US in the fall of 2006. Since then he has received more than forty songwriting and performing awards. He has been a Finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Song Contest, and an Emerging Artist at Falconridge Folk Festival . His music is an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. Despite Wates' British background, and underpinning the universality of his music's appeal, Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange has called him "a prime figure in American music''. Bring your own chair, all of our events are held outdoors on our back lawn. Depending on the weather forecast, the location of the event will be changed to the library's community room. |
