Nancy Rondeau December 16-31st, 2018

Nancy is a long time Vail artist & has been exhibiting her paintings at Vail Public Library each year for the past fourteen years. She seeks to express rhythm & its colors in her paintings to reflect the beauty of nature, particularly in the landscapes of Colorado. Nancy went on to major in art in college and to teach art in schools for six years. She spent another six years absorbing the British countryside, hiking in the rain and viewing works of the great English landscape artists in the galleries of London. Rondeau has spent the past 30 years enjoying the Colorado landscape as a painter, hiker, and volunteering at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga – Monday’s & Wednesday’s at 11:30am

This may be the yoga class you’re looking for. Here we cultivate compassion for ourselves and others. Though it’s a gentle workout, the emphasis is on working in. This inward focus unites the mind, body & Spirit in an atmosphere of community and collaboration, not competition. Balance, strength and flexibility improve while experiencing deep relaxation. You’ll feel a lightness of being from this powerful and healing practice. Taught by Anne Anderson, Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Registered with Yoga Alliance, Professional Ski Instructor of America at Vail; Lionshead Adults, Reiki II Practitioner and Founder of Snowga, a yoga practice on the slopes created to calm the mind and transform the ski experience; less fear, more fun.

Zumba is a high-energy group fitness class that, ware you can burn upwards of 500 calories in a one-hour session! Zumba was born out of a love of Latin music and dancing, intended to make fitness more fun and enjoyable.

Baby Story time

From their unique perspective, perched on the lap of a beloved adult, these very young minds absorb what is going on around them and may already be learning an appreciation for books and reading. Baby story time is filled with songs, movement exercises, rhythm and rhyme. This is very interactive and age appropriate for the 0—18 month old patrons.

Enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, children and caregivers join Cricket at Vail Public Library, as she leads listeners in rhymes, songs, stories and more. Each story time also features an age appropriate art activity. Active participation is encouraged from everybody as children enjoy these pre-reading activities designed to be the building blocks for strong readers and students. As a part of the Vail Public Library's program in cultural diversity, we will be hosting a three day Traditional Piñata Workshop. The goal of this fun, engaging three day workshop is to give the public an opportunity to learn about one of many fascinating Mexican traditions. Participants will gather in teams of four members to create piñatas made from such materials as clay pots, newspapers, gloss and tissue paper. It will take all three days to complete a piñata, so your team has to be present all three days. Please, RSVP to Sandy Rivera at srivera@vailgov.com or to 970-479-2331. Space is limited.

AWE Chamber Music Trio

The Vail Public Library once again welcomes musical guests, the AWE Chamber Trio. The principals have joined forces to further their love of various styles of music, presenting it to the Vail Valley in unique settings and venues. The AWE Chamber Trio seeks to include Classical, Baroque, Romantic, and Contemporary ensemble pieces in its repertoire, accommodating just about every type of music enthusiast. The trio will perform seasonal classics in the fireplace lounge, so pull up a chair, open a good book, and enjoy! This session is free and open to the public.

Vail Public Library proudly welcomes the Dickens Carolers for a night of caroling in our Fireside Lounge. Wearing Victorian costumes (many of them made by hand by the singers themselves), the volunteer musical group performs around the Valley spreading “Holiday Cheer”.
