Harpist, Margot Krimmel, will play a harp concert at Vail Public Library at 5:30 pm Wed. Aug. 17. Krimmel stretches the boundaries of her instrument, performing everything from Celtic folk music to originals to pop. Wednesday’s concert at the Vail Public Library will feature up-beat summer time songs. Krimmel loves collaborating with artists, choirs and dancers. This concert will include different types of harps, and styles. Krimmel began her professional harp career in the mid-1980’s, entertaining guests at Vail’s Sonennalp Resort six nights a week. She moved to Boulder a few years later and has since established herself as a successful teacher, composer, and recording artist. A first place winner of the Pop and Jazz Harpfest, Krimmel’s many published harp arrangements include pop songs and movie themes. Krimmel will perform on vocals, folk harp, and pedal harp--and who knows, with her unique style, perhaps all three at once. “I love the harp,” she says, “but actually, my goal is for the listener to forget about the harp and just hear great music.”
