Category: Adults Shakespeare 400

April 20, 2016

April 23, 2016 commemorates 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare. In honor of this momentous occasion, Vail Public Library will host a special program on Wed. April, 20 at 5:30pm with local author and teacher Kim Cope Tait, where she will discuss Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Hamlet is a character audiences love to love. Why are we so drawn to him? What is it that endows him with such intrigue? Perhaps it is that he embodies some of the most basic of human flaws and in the psychological labyrinth through which he passes on his way to revenge and ultimately his own death, we see all of the potentialities of life as a human. We see the darkness that exist in the far reaches of our consciousness, and we know that here is someone who is too sensitive, too self-reflective to fight them.

Need a refresher on Hamlet? We will have a movie screening of Hamlet by director Kenneth Branagh on Tues. April, 19 at 1:30pm.
