"I do not believe that civilization will be wiped out in a war fought with the atomic bomb. Perhaps two-thirds of the people of the Earth might be killed, but enough men capable of thinking, and enough books, would be left to start again, and civilization could be restored."

—Albert Einstein (1875-1955) German-born American theoretical physicist, theories of relativity, philosopher

Cat in the hatThe Vail Public Library will provide an afternoon of stories, birthday cake, and games for families and children of all ages. This free event will take place from 3:15 – 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 4th in the community room. Read Across America is in honor of Theodore Geisel’s, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss’, birthday. Our readers will be comprised of two local celebrities, one of our amazing Vail Public Library teen volunteers and a student readers’ theater group from Red Sandstone Elementary School. Erik Williams, youth pastor for Eagle River Presbyterian Church, Vail’s own Olympic ski racer, Sarah Schleper, and teen volunteer, Valentina Virion, will each read a favorite children’s book. The Red Sandstone readers will read a Dr. Seuss favorite. Between readers, we will have games, birthday cake and create a sticker passport of Dr. Seuss’ books for all to make.
